Lordswood Youth 6 - 4 Fulston Zebras Sports (09-09-07)
Unfortunately the game was overshadowed by an injury to Goalkeeper Gareth Parry 10 minutes before half time. Gareth was taken to hospital with a hairline fracture to his leg. Otherwise this was an excellent game with Lordswood just edging it, but Fulston never gave up and deserved a draw. Goals came from man of the match Thomas Martin(2) and one each from James Attwood and Daniel Kirkham.
Fulston Zebras Sports 5 - 0 Rainham Kenilworth (16-09-07)
Fulston Zebras Sports changed formation for this game against Rainham Kenilworth to try and protect reserve goalkeeper Jay Holland. Danny Williams was drafted in as sweeper and James Attwood as lone striker. The changes worked superbly well with the whole team playing some excellent football and comfortably beating a very good side. Man of the match was James Attwood with 4 of the goals, the other goal coming from Daniel Kirkham. Danny Williams played the sweepers role very effectively and the defence gave only a few half chances to Rainham.
Fulston Zebras Sports 5 - 3 Lordswood Youth (23-09-07)
This was another close game between two good sides. James Attwood opened the scoring from a free kick for Sports, but Lordswood soon replied. Each time one of the teams got in front the other equalised and the first half finished 3 - 3 with a goal from Thomas Martin and an own goal. The second half was equally close with Lordswood having the better chances early on before Sports gradually started to dominate more and finished strongly with two well taken goals from man of the match Daniel Kirkham. A big thank you to Lordswood for their generous gift to Gareth Parry who was injured in the first game of the season.
Fulston Zebras Sports 4 - 1 Strood '87 (30-09-07)
This was a closer match than the score suggests and was a case of Sports making their chances count. Strood scored first and stayed in front until Tom Martin equalised just before half time. The second half was equally close, but Sports managed to defend the better and second half goals from James Attwood, Daniel Kirkham and a second from Tom Martin saw Sports win their third game in a row. Danny Williams was named man of the match for another excellent game as sweeper.
Spartac 2 - 6 Fulston Zebras Sports (07-10-07)
James Attwood took his seasons tally of goals to 10 with a hat trick, two goals from Daniel Kirkham and his first goal of the season from George Martin saw Sports comfortably home against Spartac and record their forth win of the season. Man of the match was Ryan Stannard who is improving with every game in his first season for the club. It wasn’t the best performance, but again Sports were strong in defence and gave few chances to the opposition.
Rainham Eagles 8 - 3 Fulston Zebras Sports (14-10-07) (Cup)
This was a difficult away cup tie against ’high flying’ Eagles and was a good test on how the team is progressing. In most ways Sports matched Eagles and in spells of the game we were actually on top. Serhat Pinar played as striker as top scorer James Attwood was injured and scored two goals. Reserve goalkeeper Jay Holland injured his hand in the first half and Danny Williams took over in goal, but Sports continued to battle and made every effort to make a match of this and still made it an enjoyable and even contest. George Martin scored the other goal for Sports. Jonathan Hancock was man of the match for his usual hard work in defence and supporting the attack.
Strood 87 3 - 3 Fulston Zebras Sports (28-10-07)
Sports welcomed back Garth Parry in goal after recovering from his broken leg in the first game of the season, but were missing top scorer James Attwood through injury. Sports unfortunately not only had any extra hour in bed due to the clocks going back, but had an extra two minutes sleep at the start of the game and let a very good Strood side go two goals up with their first two kicks of the game. However in fairness to the team they started to battle back and two good strikes from Oliver Nunn and Serhat Pinar saw the scores level at 2-2 at half time. Daniel Kirkham was injured early in the game and had to be taken off. Strood took the lead again in the second half before Thomas Martin scored the equaliser. Although Sports were beginning to take more control of the game they could not score again and came away with a very good away point. Oliver Nunn was man of the match for a very strong performance in midfield and showed great determination to win every challenge.
Swallows 0 - 5 Fulston Zebras Sports (04-11-07)
Although Sports couldn’t really string many passes together and time after time gave the ball away needlessly they still managed to keep very tight in defence and James Attwood took his chances well in front of goal to score 4 times. The second half was an improvement in the quality of the football and Sports dominated for much of the time. Danny Williams scored the fifth goal. Man of the match was Lewis Charlesworth for a strong performance in the centre of the defence.
Valley Colts 9 - 3 Fulston Zebras Sports (Cup) (11-11-07)
Sports can take some real positives from this game against top of division two Valley Colts. Firstly we managed to score 3 goals against them, which is two more than they have conceded in their total league games this season. Also for a good part of this game we matched them and gave them a good even game. Sports goals were scored by James Attwood, Jay Holland and Oliver Nunn. Danny Williams put in another fine performance to earn man of the match.
Royal Princes Park 1 - 7 Fulston Zebras Sports (18-11-07)
For the first 30 minutes of this game neither side could break through and it remained 0-0. Gradually Sports started to string more passes together and scored twice before half time. After the break Sports started to play better and the goals started to flow. James Attwood added 5 to his
season’s total of 20 and Jay Holland scored the other 2, including a solo run from half way to score and help earn him man of the match.
Thamesview Youth Rangers 0 - 12 Fulston Zebras Sports (06-01-08)
The first half was a struggle for Sports who couldn’t seem to pass, hold on to the ball or tackle but still managed to score six goals by half time, 3 of which were scrappy, bundled in close range efforts. However the second half was more like it and the football improved considerably. The positives from this game were the number of goals and another clean sheet. Sports goals were scored by Jay Holland (4), Daniel Kirkham(3), Michael Camber (2) and one each from Thomas Martin, Ryan Stannard and Oliver Nunn. A big improvement will be needed when top of the table Rainham Eagles are the opponents next week. Michael Camber was Man of the Match for a good performance in mid field.
Woodpecker 1 - 10 Fulston Zebras Sports (27-01-08)
The strong wind played a major part in this game and when Zebras had the wind behind them in the first half they completely dominated and were 8 -0 up by half time. The second half with the wind against made life more interesting for Zebras, but still they managed to edge it and the game
finished 10-1. Michael Camber had an excellent game and scored 5 of the goals. James Attwood hit a hat trick to take his season’s total to 27. Daniel Kirkham and Tom Martin scored the other goals. Ryan Stannard was man of the match for another strong performance in a very tight defence.
Rainham Eagles 1 - 5 Fulston Zebras Sports (10-02-08)
This was a must win game for Zebra’s to have a chance of winning the division 3 championship as they went to unbeaten Rainham Eagles. The boys knew exactly what was required and each one of them delivered a performance to be proud of. The first 20 minutes were very even before Eagles opened the scoring. Zebras came back strongly and goals from James Attwood and Oliver Nunn gave Zebras a first half lead. The second half Zebras just got stronger and 2 more goals from James Attwood and one from Micheal Camber sealed a very impressive win. We now trail Eagles by only 2 points and as we still have to play them at home it is still in our hands to win the championship. Oliver Nunn was man of the match for a dominating midfield performance.
Fulston Zebras Sports 9 - 0 Swallows (16-03-08)
Zebra’s played some great, flowing football from the start of this match
and really controlled the game from start to finish. Swallows held out
for 15 minutes before the goals started to go in. Man of the Match Thomas Martin scored a hat trick and other goals from James Atwood (2), Daniel Kirk ham (2), Michael Camber and Jay Holland secured the points. We now look forward to the last game of the season against 2nd place Rainham Eagles knowing a win would secure the championship and defeat would make us runners up.
Fulston Zebras Sports 2 - 1 Rainham Eagles (13-04-08)
This was the championship/runners up decider between second place Zebras
and top of the table Rainham Eagles. On a boggy pitch Eagles started the
stronger and for the first 15 minutes were all over Zebras, but could not
break through the determined defence. Eagles deservedly opened the scoring directly from a free kick. Zebras gradually improved and started to make a few opportunities, the best of which was James Attwood hitting the crossbar from a shot 25 yards out. The second half was closer, but with few goal scoring opportunities until Zebras were awarded a penalty after 25 minutes. Unfortunately James Attwood put the spot kick over the bar. Zebras continued to press and after a goal mouth scramble Jay Holland scored for Zebras. With only 10 minutes to go Tom Martin coolly slotted home the winner for Zebras. Well done to the whole team. This has been a tremendous season and the boys thoroughly deserve the Division 3 championship for their hard work.
