The Senior Ladies.

Lloyds 6 - 1 Fulston Zebras (02-09-07)
Not the best score line but there were alot of positives, this was
our first ever match at ladies level we started of very well, probably
to fast and tired very quickly. We were unlucky to be 2-0 down at half
time but we struggled with the pace of the game and after that losing our
shape and our concentration. Contradictory to the scoreline our keeper, Sarah Baker played one of the best games she has played! Amie scored
our consolation goal and her first goal for the club.
Managers POM: Sarah Baker Oppossition POM : Sophie Dickie
Captains Blog:-
- Lauren Stratfull - "Im sure all the girls were as nervous as me about the first match especially the big step into the ladies league... but there was still soome good football played and we will be looking forward to the next match ".
Gravesham 1 - 3 Fulston Zebras (09-09-07)
We have met Gravesham many times before and the games are always
close, this game showed our better side and the whole team worked well
together. We were 1-0 up at half time through a blinding Danielle left
footer!! We started off slow in the second half and allowed them to
equalise, but we regained our composure and went on win deservedly with
goals from Sophie Dickie long range shoot/cross (?!?!). Kelly Calvert
netted the third from a well controlled corner.Managers and oppositions POM: Lindsey Clark.
Captains Blog:-
- Lauren Stratfull - "This was a much better game and the girls enjoyed it alot more, we took time to pass the ball more and this showed in the result!! Well Done Girlies!!"
Fulston Zebras 9 - 3 Castle Colts Reserves (16-09-07)
We started the game quite strong scoring early with the first goal
from Mo Cordes on her debut, the half then became dominated by the
strong wind bringing castle back into the game allowing them to
equalise. Although the game was quite even in the first half we still
managed to maintain a lead of 3-2 at half time. We knew we would have
the advantage of the wind, the sun, and a tired castle colts in the
second half, this clearly showed when the goals started to flow with Mo
completing her hat-trick as did Paris Reeves (and even scored one with
her head!!) finishing up the goals was Kelly with 2 and Lucy grabbing
her first goal of the season. All the girls played well and Danielle
Carlton received oppositions player of the match with Paris getting the
managers award.
Captains Blog:-
- Lauren Stratful - This game was more physical in the first half but the second half was like a complete different match and the girls
thoroughly enjoyed beating old rivals!!!
Fulston Zebras 15 – 1 Crockenhill (23-09-07)
This game had a lot of background as Crockenhill were in our league
last year in the U17’s, these games were always the closest, but
obviously we’ve made great improvements from last year and this was a
impressive one sided match. Rawlings opened the game with the first 7
goals… greedy or what!!! although Crockenhill did manage to get a
scrappy goal just before half time but it still wasn’t good enough and
they came into the second half very irate… the girls kept there cool
throughout many sarcastic comments but this made the girls motivated
and smashed in another 8 goals in the second half to finish up the
match as 15-1 winners!! Player of the match from the opposition was Sarah Baker (our goalkeeper) although she never really touched the ball!! And the managers players deservedly went to Lucy Rawlings.
Captains Blog:-
- Lauren Stratful - Well well well….. lets just say it will be interesting when we met again!!!
Ramsgate 0 - 8 Fulston Zebras (07-10-07)
In the frist half this was our worst start to a game so far this season...we were disorganised, and lazy causing unforced errors to
occur! with chances getting wasted it took us a good half hour before
we found the back of the net through Mo Cordes. She completed her
hatrick and gave as a 3-0 lead by half time. After some harsh words at
half time Zebras managed to orgainise themselves and played the passing
game which we are good at. We finished strong scoring another 5 goals 2
more from Mo, 2 from Paris, and a goal from Kelly Calvert. Although we
managed to get the tally to 8 there was plenty of chances that should
have easily been finished off and even a missed open goal (not to
mention any names....PARIS) looks like we need shooting practice at
training!!! Player of the match from the opposition went to Lauren Stratfull with Lindsey Clark getting the managers award.
Captain's Blog:-
- Lauren Stratfull - The first half was not our best game and chances went frustatingly wide many times!!! the second half seemed a different game and we started passing the ball allowing us to open up the Ramsgate defence.
Fulston Zebras 1 - 3 Aylesford (14-10-07)
All good things must come to an end, however we started the game very
strongly dominating the first half against a higher league opposition.
This game showed us we must learn to put away our chances as we hit the
post twice and with easy shots going wide and high. We should have
punished Aylesford and been comfortable at half time instead of a 1 - 0
lead from Lucy Rawlings. It was downhill for zebras after Aylesford
equalised early in the second half, the girls heads dropped and it was
a constant struggle not helped by losing 3 players through injury and
another with ''lack of breath'' ay Linds!!! some how ive got to get the
girls to be consistant through 2 halves......any ideas!!!!! Oppositions Player went to Mo Cordes with Danielle Receiving the managers player.
Captain's Blog:-
- Lauren Stratful - I was dissapointed to have to go off injured in the second half but i think we played so well in the first half, it was like we forgot what to do after that!!!!
Canterbury 9 - 1 Fulston Zebras (21-10-07)
Fulston knew they had a strong opponent, but did not realise how strong as
we went 3-0 down in the first 10 minutes. Fulston found there feet and
managed to defend against an on slaught, we managed to find the net
through kelly calvert and this remained untill half time. the second half
saw some vital keeping errors which allowed fulstons heads to drop, we
knew we had been beaten by a good team. These are the sort of matches that will help fulston to improve on their performance against stronger
opponants. it is a good learning point for the girls. Player of the match from the opposition went to Lindsey Clark with Charlie Frampton receiving the managers award for constant battling!
Captains blog:-
- Lauren Stratful - I think some of the goals could have been prevented very easily but unfortunatly we all let our heads drop from the very begining but it will obviously teach us what not to do next time!
Fulston Zebras 14 - 1 Teynham Gunners (28-10-07)
We bounced back from last weeks result and allowed teynham no room
straight from the kick off only taking a few seconds to open the scoring
through lucy rawlings. paris added the second with a beautiful angled lob
from outside the box, it looked quite amazing!! we backed off teynham and
allowed them to battle and score a silly goal, however we manged to press
on and have a comfortable lead of 4-1 at half time although it could have
and should have been so much more!!! the second half saw a complete
different game as fulston played a very tired teynham team. The goals
started to flood in tallying a total of 14. Player of the match from the opposition went to Lucy Rawlings with the managers award going to Paris Reeves.
Captains blog:-
- Lauren Stratful - This was a good way for us to gain back our confidence after last weeks match, it was an all round team effort!!....well done girleys!!!
Fulston Zebras 3 - 5 Longlane (04-11-07)
This was a top of the league clash which gave Zebras the chance to be
joint leaders. We started brightly and gained an advantage early on.
Everything looked promising until our keeper allowed the ball to roll
easily under her body, making it level all round. Longlanes second goal was
the turning point in the match, as the referee allowed a blatent handball
to go unpunished allowing Longlane to take advantage and go on to score.
This started our downfall causing us to be 4-1 down at half time. this
difficult situation arose due to Fulston falling into the trap of not
playing to the whistle. im sure we will learn!!! the second half was a
complete different game and it could easily be said that we got the better
of Longlane by far. Unfortuantly we had already given ourselves a to big
of a mountain to climb. The goals were scored by Mo Cordes and Paris
Reeves (2) Player of the match from the opposition went to Lucy Rawlings
with Kelly Calvert recieving the Managers award.
Captains blog:-
- Lauren Stratful - The girls will certainly be dissapointed to not gain any advantage over long lane even though the performance given in the second half should at least deserve a point!!!
Teynham Gunners 1 - 14 Fulston Zebras (11-11-07)
This was our second 14-1 victory over Teynham, However this seemed to be more of a challenging game as we was also playing the ref!!! However
Determination and a gutsy performance saw us tear Teynham apart...(even
scroing 4 goals with headers....very rare!!) Sadly we picked up to yellow
cards our first this season...Lucy Rawlings - Foul ...Apparently!!! and
Sophie Dickie recieving one for decent. We will be meeting Teynham again
in the cup in december and like they say.....good things come in threes.
POM from Opposition goes to Paris and managers award again to Kelly, glad
to see shes back in form.
Captains Blog:-
- Lauren Stratful - Certainly a much tougher game but i cant say we didnt enjoy it !!!
Fulston Zebras 7 - 0 Ramsgate (18-11-07)
Fulston started quickly from the off with Lucy opening the scoring in the
opening minutes. After that Ramsgate settled into the game making it hard
for zebras to get through so we had to be patient and keep preasuring
their defence. After a good half hour of football zebras finally found the
back of the net giving us a more convincing lead at half time. The second
half saw a more one sided game as the young zebras wore down the 'older'
'more experianced' ramsgate defence and the goals began to flood in with 3 more goals from Lucy with Danielle, Paris, and Mo all gaining a goal each. Oppositions player went to Lucy Rawlings with a deservedly managers award going to Holly Tamsett for an outstanding performance and her best of the season so far.
Captains Blog:-
- Lauren Stratful - Contrasting to the scoreline this game was challenging as ramsgate are a tough opponent that never give up but it was nice to do the double over them
Fulston Zebras 17 - 0 Bredhurst (25-11-07)
This was our first meeting with Bredhurst and we didnt know what to
expect. We had no subs and were without our first team keeper, however our striker, Mo Cordes, bravely stood in goal, but this did not affect our
score tally. All the players seemed to be fired up, and this clearly
showed on the pitch producing a goal rampage from Lucy (7) Kelly (5)
Louise (3) and paris (2) Player of the match went to Lucy Rawlings with Sophie recieving managers award for a tackling performance.
Captains Blog:-
- Lauren Stratful - As a defender we didnt have much work to do but it was great to see the team working together and creating a big confidence boost.
Swalecliffe 0 - 21 Fulston Zebras (16-12-07)
A convincing score but it was not matched by the performance, Zebras
forgot how to play the passing game and just went back to basics of
lobbing the ball forward and shooting from long range, I’m sure they will
blame this on the 2 week break!!! Lucky for us we were playing a weaker
opponent and were able to get away with the mistakes. I would like to
thank Lauren for taking captains responsibility for standing in goal for
the last 20 minutes with the idea for goal keeper Sarah baker to have a
run out only to get injured with her first touch of the ball and took no
further part in the game. Player of the match went to Lucy Rawlings and I
felt no one played well enough to get managers player!!
Captain's Blog:-
- Lauren Stratful - It was nice to have so many girls on the score sheet including myself!!! …however the game was rather shocking!! I’m sure we will do even better next time!!!
Fulston Zebras 10 – 0 Teynham Gunners (06-01-08) (Chairman's Cup)
We went into this cup match rather confident knowing we had already beaten Teynham twice in the league, It took us a long time to settle not scoring until 20 minutes into the game through Mo Cordes. As time went on we began to dominate the game missing chances and hitting the cross bar twice going into half time 4-0 up. A tactical change in the formation lead to a more convincing second half as Teynham began to tire. Finishing 10 – 0 winners with Mo and Lucy completing hat tricks. Player of the match went to Lauren Stratfull as did the managers.
Captains Blog:-
- Lauren Stratful - This game seem to start very slowly with simple shots going miles, which didn’t help by the sun!! but the girls pulled it together and deservedly won, putting us through to the next round.
Maidstone Town 5 - 2 Fulston Zebras (Kent Cup) (27-01-08)
This was always going to be a difficult cup match against the clear
leaders of the league above us, and it was evident that players went into
the game fearful. In the first half we gave maidstone too much room on and off the ball allowing them to pass the ball around us to easily giving
them their first goal, Fulston battled and managed to equalised through a
goalbound shot from Louise Lorton which was helped in by a maidstone
defender. Maidstone got 2 quick goals before half time one of which was a
very harsh penalty decision against Sophie dickie for winning the ball in
the air!?!?! After the break fulston upped their game and for a long
period kept Maidstone in their own half but we failed to take advantage of
our possession and as we tired we lost another goal. However due to a very
tense atomasphere fulston physically battled and earned themselves another
goal through Mo Cordes lobbing the keeper. Although the match finished 5 - 2 the girls should all be very proud of their performances proving we can
match higher oppositions. Managers player went to Sarah Baker with a more
confident performance.
Wandgas 7 – 0 Fulston Zebras (Cup Q/F) (10-02-08)
It was always going to be another tough cup week with opponents from the
premiership, we always go into these games lacking confidence and it shows
in our performance. The game was quite even for the first 15 minutes
unfortunately a couple of unlucky deflections allowed the ball to fall
into the path of the Wandgas strikers giving them the lead. The third goal
came when Charlie (who was covering as a defender for this match)
unknowingly played a Wandgas player onside leaving the rest of the team
miles away!! Halftime team talk was tough trying to lift the girls out of
a low which proved to be impossible and the second half saw Wandgas
capitalize on Fulston mistakes. Unfortunately it wasn’t until after the
game the girls realised the level of competition wasn’t as high as they
had expected, and I would like to mention that the score does not reflect
on the performance.
Captains Blog:-
- Lauren Stratful - It was comforting to know that the girls from Wandgas stated we were one of there tougher opponents this season.
Fulston Zebras 8 – 1 Lloyds (17-02-08)
It was good to get back into winning ways and was also good to turn this
result around from the first game of the season when we lost this fixture
6 – 1. The girls were shocked when the referee awarded Lloyds a penalty in the first 2 minutes for ‘supposedly’ handball by Sophie Dickie. It then
took us a little while to settle back into our stride but it was not long
before Louise Lorton started our goal tally. Louise later completed her
hat-rick with a stunning free kick, and other goals were added by Paris
(2), Mo, Lucy and Sophie, Overall a solid performance and a well deserved
result. Player of the match went to Danielle Carlton with the manager’s
award going to Louise Lorton.
Captains Blog:-
- Lauren Stratful - This was a very good performance and we made sure Lloyds never had any clear chances …good effort all round!!
Fulston Zebras 3 – 2 Gravesham (24-02-08)
This was a fantastic team performance, Zebras soaked up all the Gravesham efforts, as the opposition started the game very strongly, and keeping us locked in our own half for the first 15 minutes. Fulston managed to find the net through Mo Cordes which kick started a battling performance. With a 2-1 advantage at half time Fulston new the second half wasn’t going to be easy. It took a Danielle Carlton wonder goal with a fabulous turn and an excellent strike from the half way line, managing to lob the keeper, for zebras to control the game. With tired legs Gravesham managed to squeeze one back in the dying seconds of the game. Player of the match went to Danielle with the whole team receiving the managers award for a solid performance and an all round effort.
Captain's Blog:-
- Lauren Stratful - We knew this game was going to be tough because all previous games have been close, however it was a very enjoyable game and very competitive.
Bredhurst 0 – 6 Fulston Zebras (02-03-08)
This was a good result but a poor performance. We couldn’t seem to put a
series of passes together, keep the ball on the ground, or handle the
pitch conditions, the list is endless!! The second half saw a better
performance but zebras were no where near their best. Player of the match from the opposition was Lindsey Clark and the manager award went to Louise Lorton.
Captain's Blog:-
- Lauren Stratfull - Not much to say …just glad there weren’t a lot of
spectators!! But in the end a good result.
Fulston Zebras 18 - 0 Swalecliffe (09-03-08)
This was always going to be a one sided game and fulston took full
advantage, there was a great deal of excellent passing which proved vital
to the majority of the goals, fulston had there shooting boots on, and
finished with a convincing win!! Player of the match went to Louise
Lorton with Lucy Rawlings Getting the Managers award.
Captain's Blog:-
- Lauren Stratfull - Watching the majority of the match from the sideline due to illness the girls put on a great show and prooved their abilities!!
LongLane 4 - 3 Fulston Zebras (13-04-08)
Im still baffled as to how we didnt win this game?!?! We created chances
galore with many going begging. We were much the better team and dominated the game however due to a poor goalkeeping performance Longlane took advantage and were 2-0 up. Fulston fought back with a goal from Louise Lorton just before half time. The second half saw much of the same with Fulston controlling the match but were unlucky on converting their chances. I think there were a few highlighted problems that need to be worked on in training ... however a good battleing performance overall,
possibly the best of the season. Player of the match went to Lindsey Clark
with Louise Lorton Getting the Managers award
Captain's Blog:-
- Lauren Stratfull - I think the girls Played excellent if you take away the rain, wind, mud, hailstones, thunder, lightening ...it was a very
enjoyable game!!!
Crokenhill 0 - 5 Fulston Zebras (20-04-08)
This was an away game that was always going to cause us a few problems,
with crockenhill being a very physical side!! It was a convincing 5-0 win but as normal on Crockenhill matches we have picked up several injuries but hopefully all will be recovered by the next match. Player of the Match went to Lindsey Clark and Lucy Rawlings getting the managers award.
Captain's Blog:-
- Lauren Stratfull - These games are always interesting as there are often several grudges that show themselves during the match ...all credit to the girls for getting on with the game ...a very pleasing result!!
